When I had a baby at my side and other children in the cradle, I would work 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting closer to finishing, but the project was still a way off. In this undertaking I was ready to shell out a substantial amount of money and time searching for the perfect home. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. We had a weekly schedule that consisted of spending the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate and garage sales, shopping for new and used things. The rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. It was a bit like it... This was when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. When our home was fully furnished, I could not quit! I rented a booth at the local market and sold pieces there. Eventually, I had too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the available space. The house became a venue where I would host open houses, where up 1000 people would be able to view the things on my first floor and purchase them. My venture Growing Days began here. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our family of four. I was trying to find that perfect balance of what it was like to start a new business while also being a mommy. Growing Days seemed like the perfect combination. It was in 2013 when my beautiful daughter Nora came along our 4th baby. It was a great direction for my business however, I needed some time off. I decided to take some breaks from my old furniture and stay at home with the children. This was precisely what I was looking for at the moment. After a few minutes the phone started getting busy. I started receiving calls from people asking me for help in home improvement and interior design. Most of these people were those who had walked through my house during open house for furniture! Then I slowly took on clients in my own way. In the end, I had many clients and I was running as a home improvement business. Most likely, I would have laughed if I had been told that the venture was going to be the premise of an upcoming tv program that airs on the DIY Network. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the episode.
