April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and piano classes, which ignited her love for writing songs. At the age of 12 April composed her first single Different. She spent a lot of time at 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. After a while, she began to go on trips with her dad and write in NY or LA. April also began to include additional topics that were related to of her peers who are dealing with such things as social pressure and teens who commit suicide through the songs Take my Hand. Lockhart has her own fan base and is an online lifestyle blogger for the popular Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's part of her story, but that's not the entire story. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability in her posts on Instagram, however she doesn't make it the focus of it. The message? The message is: We all have multiple identities and are far more complicated than we believe we're. Lockhart, via video message sent from her Nashville at home, claims I don't want that to be a part of my character. I am greater than the physical person I am. It doesn't impact my daily life. I conduct every day as normal and have found the best way for me to adapt things. This is a major part of my life, and it's imperative that we talk about it. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that will last for a long time, and she has been a source of inspiration in this regard. Even so, Lockhart admits to going through periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. She now wears any outfit she likes and uploads photos on her Facebook page with pride. It's a journey is the key thing I'm not sure if it will be an end about self-love. This is a process, and I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. The people you surround yourself with who truly know your personal story and who can look through your eyes are the most important people to remind you of what you're worried about.
